Making the primordial soup of future virtual worlds for you and your AI to play in!
Company
Spacebrainz is a privately held AI deep tech company. We are focused on a future where most media content will no longer be produced by traditional Hollywood studios or the AAA video games industry.
The disruption caused by AI in the creative entertainment industries is not yet fully understood, but it creates opportunities for those who embrace it constructively with creative communities. Our mission is to develop the technology and creative platforms for where AI assisted user content generation takes us next.
Virtual Material Science
Recent advances in AI necessitate a rethink of not only how virtual worlds are made but also what they are made of. For example, we understand that text content formed from character symbols is a rich and malleable representation for both people and AI. Similarly, for videos and images, pixels serve as the prevalent, highly flexible primitives.
For virtual worlds, better unified representations of virtual matter need to be researched and developed. These representations consist of volumetric and particle primitives, coupled with AI latent spaces. They would intrinsically encode not only visual attributes but also physics, virtual biological elements, semantics and intelligent behaviours computed through virtual matter interactions.
The development of these simulation codecs is what we call Virtual Material Science.
Projects
Technology
Our research in combining creative platforms with the field of Virtual Material Science has led us to understand that AI will integrate various elements into a UX centred on simulation as its primary form of media. This requires an approach and technology that is slightly different from traditional video game projects.
The future of virtual worlds will be realised by moving the entirety of simulation onto GPU hardware. Legacy game engines primarily use GPU hardware for graphics and VFX simulation. We have been building our own technology in preparation for when advancing GPU compute power reaches diminishing returns for computer graphics, and will instead be redirected to power complex AI driven simulations.
